Isn't this exciting! Here's more on Secretary LaHood's blog - he links bicycle transportation to military readiness, as well. He underscores that "even for those folks who have no interest in bicycling, this relatively low investment actually pays dividends for those who still choose to drive. Everybody wins."

I had to pick myself up off the floor when I saw/heard this online. It's been so long since the USA has had such a long range, forward thinker as a secretary of anything.
